Sarawak, Selangor wins Youth Open Maters titles

7th October, Petaling Jaya: 35th Malaysian Interstate Boys Team gold medalist, Tsen Fan Yew of Sarawak/National Youth and Qurratu'Ain Izdihar Binti Mohd Pozi of Selangor/MTBC Special Squad were crowned the 46th Malaysian National Bowling Championships national youth champions.

Last year's champion Megat Zaqrul Haiqal of Pulau Pinang had a good start with 237 in his opening game to lead Muhd Noor Hidayat B Muhd Nazri by just a single pin with Syed Amsyar Ghazi in close company. But his lead only lasted one game as Danial Abu Samah of Pahang shot into the lead with a stunning 278 in his second game.

The Pahang youth downed 191 and 225 in his next two games to remain in the lead. Tsen Fan Yew rolled a sizzling 270 in the fourth game to move into second while Megat Zaqrul recovered to take third spot.

As the 21-year-old Sarawakian continued to lead after another superb 257 in the fifth game, Megat Zaqrul move up to second albeit, 63 behind. Tsen went ended the finals with 210, 209 and 206 to seal victory with 1752. Izz Naqiuddin Putera of Negeri Sembilan/National Youth stormed home to snatch second position with 1708.

27th Asian Championships Double gold medalist and 35th Malaysia Interstate Boys Doubles gold medalist, Shaqeem Izwan Teh of Kuala Lumpur/National Youth clinched third position with 1704. Megat Zaqrul and Danial Abu Samah rounded out the top five with 1687 and 1639 respectively.

In the Youth Girls Open division, up and coming talent, Qurratu'Ain Izdihar Binti Mohd Pozi stole the limelight and captured her first-ever title after finishing the finals with 1730. 2024 World Youth Championships Team gold medalist and last year's runner-up again had to settle for second with 1685 after leading the first half of the finals.

Nur Anis Snisya Bt Muhd Zafli of Kedah took the final podium spot with 1618 while Ng Ai Shan of Kuala Lumpur and Nur Irnina Binti Mat Aris completed the top five with 1615 and 1561 respectively. Muhammad Haziq Hakim of SSTMI bagged the Youth Boys Graded title with a total of 1642.

Adeel Wafiy Bin Jalaudin of Selangor finished second with 1635 and Muhd Isyraq Iqbal Bin Ramadhan of Sarawak took third position with 1590. 35th Malaysian Interstate Girls Team gold medalist, Nurul Amirah Binti Amirul captured the Youth Girls Graded crown with 1695.

Claudia Kumang AK Jakson of ABAS/Sarawak and Balqis Nurdini Binti Mohd Khairul of WP Putrajaya finished third 1630. Mr Robert Lu, Senior Vice President of MTBC was on hand to present the trophies to the winners. The Senior Masters Finals will be held later this evening.>p>
