3rd October, Petaling Jaya: 2023 National champion, Muhammad Syazirol Shamsuddin took over the lead of the Men's Open qualifying table of the 47th Malaysian National Tenpin Bowling Championships 2025 as Faten Najihah Binti Ahmad Faik continued to share the Women's Open lead with Sharon Koh of WP Putrajaya.

Muhammad Syazirol immediately took over the lead after only his first attempt with lines of 279, 237, 235, 279, 256 and 229 at the 5:00pm Squad 7 for a record-breaking 1515 pinfalls. Overnight leader, Megat Zaqrul Haiqal of Pulau Pinang/FND Empire, who totaled 1495, slipped down to second behind the new leader.

36th Interstate two gold medalist and National Youth, Muhammad Aiman Syahin leapfrog into third with 1494. Two silver medalist and National Podium squad member, Izz Naqiuddin Putera and reigning Malaysian Open champion, Ethan Damien Goh rounded up the top five with 1487 and 1485 respectively.

The current cut for the last qualifying spot at 22nd position went to last year's first runner-up, Hafiz Zainuddin with 1329.

The top 22 qualifiers along with the defending champion, Muhammad Hafiz Bin Alihanafiah and the 36th Interstate All Events gold medalist, Muhd Adam Darwish of Pulau Pinang/MMBC totaling 24 qualifiers will contest the 8-game Masters Finals on Sunday, October 5.

In the Women's Open division, 36th Interstate All Events silver medalist and National Podium squad member, Faten Najihah continued to share top qualifying spot with four-time National Champion, Sharon Koh of WP Putrajaya with 1364.

Faten Najihah had lines of 227, 268, 197, 207, 228 and 237 during Squad 5. Youth Girls Team silver medalist and National Youth squad member, Adania Mohd Redzwan occupied third position, just one pin behind the leading duo.

36th Interstate Women's Doubles silver medalist, Nur Syazwani Sahar finished fourth with 1347 while Women's Team gold medalist, Intan Qistina of Sabah rounded up the top five with 1339.

The current cut for the last qualifying spot at 16th position is occupied by 36th Interstate Doubles and Team gold medalist, Nurul Ayunni Binti Junaidi of Sabah with 1228.

The top 16 qualifiers together with the defending champion Gillian Lim, a member of the National Podium squad and the 36th Interstate All Events gold medalist, Anis Hannani Binti Romzi will contest the 8-game Masters Finals on Sunday, October 5.
