27th September, Petaling Jaya: The 47th Malaysian National and 36th Interstate Tenpin Bowling Championships 2025 was officially declared open by Guest of Honour, Yang Berusaha, Cik Puah Pei Ling, Deputy Director of Majlis Sukan Negara at Sunway Megalanes.

A total of 15 participating states from Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia comprising of 416 athletes and 54 team officials and coaches will be vying for honour in the next three days of competition starting tomorrow.

Emcee and MTBC Council Member, Ms Michelle Wong kicked off proceedings with the introduction of distinguished guests and dignitaries present at the opening. They include YBhg Dato' Najeeb Abdullah, President of Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress, Mr Robert Lu, Senior Vice President of MTBC and En. Mazlan Mohd Said, Vice President of MTBC.

Also present were Mr. Edwin Yeoh, Excutive Director of Malaysia Book of Record and Mr. and Mrs. JB Koo, ex-Malaysian National Bowler and winner of numerous local and international championships representing Malaysia.

YBhg Dato' Najeeb Abdullah delivered his speech by thanking Yang Berusaha, Cik Puah Pei Ling for finding time off her busy schedule to grace the opening ceremony. He also thanked all the states affiliates of MTBC for sending their full teams for this year's championships.

Yang Berusaha, Cik Puah then gave her speech at the opening during which she thanked Dato' Najeeb Abdullah for inviting him to officiate the opening ceremony. She was pleased to know that Malaysian bowling continued to produce success after success more than four decades, both in Asian and in the world.

She hoped that with these successes, more and more aspiring athletes will take up the sport and continue to supply a pool of talents to maintain the level of competitiveness especially under the new leadership at the helm. She extended her wishes to all participants the best of luck before declaring the championships officially opened.

A token of appreciation was presented to Yang Berusaha, Cik Puah by YBhg Dato' Najeeb Abdullah. A special Malaysian Book of Records award was also presented to Cik Siti Safiyah Amirah, a member of the Malaysian National Podium Squad for winning a PWBA title tis year and Ms Gillian Lim for being awarded the PWBA Rookie of the Year, the only Malaysian to have achieve this award.

Competition will kick off with the Women Singles 8.00am tomorrow, followed by Youth Boys and Men Senior Singles at noon, Youth Girls and Women Senior Singles at 4.00pm and Men Singles at 8.00pm. Live scoring and live video streaming will be featured daily.
