National bowlers take over lead

4th October, Petaling Jaya: Overnight leader and 2023 National champion, Muhammad Syazirol Shamsuddin and 26th Interstate two bronze medalists, Nur Hazirah Binti Ramli remained on top of the Men's and Women's Open qualifying leaderboard of the 47th Malaysian National Tenpin Bowling Championships 2025 on Saturday.

Syazirol Shamsuddin totaled a whopping 1515 and had led the Men's Open standings since Thursday. Chong Jun Foo of Hero Bowling/ABAS, who was in 13th position with 1448, improved his total with 1514 to leapfrog up to second position.

National podium squad member, Tun Hakim became the third bowler to surpass the 1,500-mark with 1508 to take up third spot while early leader, Megat Zaqrul Haiqal slipped down to fourth with 1495. 36th Interstate two gold medalist, Muhammad Aiman Syahin rounded out the top five with 1494.

Although the current cut in 22nd position went National podium member, Ahmad Muaz Mohd Fishol with 1421. The top 22 qualifiers along with the defending champion, Muhammad Hafiz Bin Alihanafiah and the 36th Interstate All Events gold medalist, Muhd Adam Darwish of Pulau Pinang/MMBC totaling 24 qualifiers.

Meanwhile, 36th Interstate bronze medalist and overnight leader, Nur Hazirah Binti Ramli also remained in the lead of the Women's Open standings with 1423. 2019 Asian Championships Masters gold medalist, Esther Cheah improved from 1261 to 1413 to take up second spot.

Three-time National champion and 2024 PWBA Bowler of the Year, Sin Li Jane finished third with 1410 while Adelia Nur Irwan and 2025 IBF World Cup Singles gold medalist, Natasha Roslan completed the top five with 1408 and 1387 respectively.

The current cut in 16th position is held by National podium squad member, Nora Lyana Nastasia with 1320. The top 16 qualifiers together with the defending champion Gillian Lim, a member of the National Podium squad and the 36th Interstate All Events gold medalist, Anis Hannani Binti Romzi will contest the 8-game Masters Finals on Sunday, October 5. The Youth Masters Finals will be contested later tonight at 8:00pm.
