Sabah wins second gold and a silver

28th September, Petaling Jaya: National youth, Nur Jeehan Iezzaty Binti Suffian and Chloe Ho Rui Zhi won Sabah's second gold medal and added a silver at the 36th Interstate Tenpin Bowling Championships 2025 after finishing one-two in the Youth Girls Singles while Romahanum Bt Othman picked up Selangor's first gold in the Women Senior Singles.

Nur Jeehan Iezzaty got off the block with a sizzling 238 to lead 2025 Asian Junior five gold medalist, Quaatu'Ain Iadihar Binti Mohd Pozi of Selangor by two pins. Despite stumbling to a poor 164 in her second game, the Sabahan recovered with 246 in the third game to stretch her lead to 79 pins.

Qurratu'Ain Izdihar continued to trail Nur Jeehan Iezzaty in second while team-mate, Chloe Ho moved into third spot. The leader added two more big games of 223 and 256 in the fourth and fifth to open up a huge margin of 111 over Quaatu'Ain Izdihar.

Although Nur Jeehan Iezzaty ended with only 176, her total of 1303 was good enough to earn her first and Sabah's second gold medal of the championship. Chloe Ho made it a superb day for her state after finishing second with 1167 to earn the silver.

Qurratu'Ain Izdihar stumbled to a lowly 137 but was fortunate enough to take home the bronze medal with 1153. Nor Aireen Sophielia Binti Shahrulnizam of Pahang missed the podium by 17 pins after ending in fourth with 1136.

Meanwhile in the Women Senior division, newly-crowned Women Senior Masters champion, Romahanum Bt Othman won Selangor's first gold medal after a string of silvers. She snatched victory after ending with 173 in her final game for a total of 1064.

Pace-setter, Norlina Mohd Nor of Pahang led from start up to the sixth and final game when she ended with a disastrous 144 to settle for the silver medal with 1060, just four pins away. Norlela Mohd Nawi of Kelantan picked up the bronze medal with 1056.

The last squad of the day will be the Men Singles commencing at 8:00pm. Competition will shift to the Doubles event tomorrow and the Team of Four on September 30 concluding the four day 36th Interstate Championships.
