28th September, Petaling Jaya: Muhamad Noor Hidayat Bin Muhd Nazri captured Melaka's first gold medal of the 36th Interstate Tenpin Bowling Championships 2025 in more than two decades with victory in the Men Singles leaving Izz Naqiuddin Putera of Negeri Sembilan with the silver and Ahmad Hazim Bin Nik Mat of Terengganu the bronze.

Wan Mohd Zarif Ikram Bin Wan Mazlan of Terengganu had a sizzling start with 259 in his opening game to lead Ahmad Hazim by four pins. Muhammad Alif Syafie of Terengganu and Muhd Adam Darwish shared third spot with 234 followed by Muhammad Jaris Thaqif Bin Hellmi of Selangor and Abg Afiq Yazid of Sarawak in fourth and fifth.

Ahmad Hazim almost shot the championship second perfect game but settled for 299 to take over the lead. Mohammad Shafizul Bin Suhaimi moved into second to give Melaka a good one-two while Wan Mohd Zarif slipped down to third.

Ahmad Hazim continued to lead after the third game as Muhamad Noor Hidayat added 290 in his third game to take up second spot. Izz Naqiuddin Putera made progress with a superb 269 to move into contention.

Muhamad Noor Hidayat shot 247 in his fourth game to become the new leader. Ahmad Hazim slipped to second, just three pins adrift while Izz Naqiuddin Putera remained in third.

The leader went on to end the Singles with 227 and 203 to seal victory with 1415. Izz Naqiuddin Putera snatched the silver medal with 1372, 43 pins behind the champion. Ahmad Hazim settled for the bronze medal with 1370. Mohammad Shafizul missed the podium by 34 pins in fourth with 1336.

Competition will shift to the Doubles event tomorrow and the Team of Four on September 30 concluding the four day 36th Interstate Championships. The gold medalist of each of the Men, Women, Youth Boys and Youth Girls will automatically qualify for their respective Malaysian National Masters finals.
