29th September, Petaling Jaya: The first pair of Muhd Adam Darwish and Muhd Aqil Faizal bagged Pulau Pinang's first gold medal of the 36th Interstate Tenpin Bowling Championships 2025 after winning the Men's Doubles ahead of two WP Kuala Lumpur pairs taking home the silver and bronze medals.

Muhd Adam Darwish and Muhd Aqil Faizal blazed the lanes with a cracking 501 in their opening game to lead the second WP Kuala Lumpur pair of Muhammad Amin Syimir Bin Safri and Shaqeem Izwan Teh Bin Shahrul by ten pins. The second Sarawak pair of Tsen Fan Yew and Chong Jun Foo occupied third, a further ten pins away.

Muhd Adam Darwish shot the championship's fourth 300 in his second game to add to Muhd Aqil Faizal's massive game of 286 for a record-breaking 589 and extended their lead to 38 pins. Sarawak 2 moved up to second while WP Kuala Lumpur 2 slipped down to third.

The leading pair continued with their hot pace by adding 502 and 509 in their third and fourth games to extend their lead to a further 110 pins. WP Kuala Lumpur regained second spot as the first WP Kuala Lumpur pair of Ahmad Azriq Bin Izamuddin and Mohammad Hafiz Bin Zainuddin joined in third.

Although Pulau Pinang pair eased off their pace with only 419 and 492 in their final two games, their total of 3009 sealed them the victory and their first gold medal.

WP Kuala Lumpur 1 and WP Kuala Lumpur 2 finished second and third with 2873 and 2765 to take home the silver and bronze medals. The second Terengganu pair of Ahmad Hazim Bin Nik Mat and Wan Mohd Zarif Ikran Bin Wan Mazlan missed the podium by 90 pins in fourth.

The final Doubles for the Women will commence at 9:00pm later tonight. Competition will shift to the Team of 4 event tomorrow over two blocks of three games each ending the three day Interstate Championships and will be followed by the qualifying rounds of the 47th Malaysian National.
